Work hard, play hard, is how it goes for most people, right? For me, it’s work hard – travel harder. With that, I’m always looking for places that provide me some of the creature comforts of home while I’m wander-lusting. It doesn’t have to be grand, but places like TownePlace Suites by Marriott do it right.

Every room is a suite and every room has a full kitchen. For someone like me, this matters. While I like eating out when I’m traveling, there are times when I’m on a long trip and all I want is a homemade meal. It doesn’t have to be anything involved — in fact, no one really wants to get crazy cooking while vacationing— but a little homemade meal makes extended trips feel so much more homey.

A few weeks ago, Matt and I went to Nashville to celebrate TownePlace Suites 21st birthday and we did just that—homemade meals for our extended stay. He grilled and I blended.
TownePlace Suites makes it easy with their Something Borrowed program. A program that allows you to borrow everything from blenders, slow cookers to grilling tools for their onsite grill to board games like Scrabble and more. I used the small blender to make the smoothie bowl you see here and Matt grilled up a ribeye and some asparagus at their outdoor gas grill (hit the jump to his site to grab the recipe).

It’s the small things like this that puts me at ease when we travel extensively. No matter how much I love to travel, having little bits and pieces of my everyday routine while on travel makes it that much more enjoyable.

It might be my computer, but none of your photos of this recipe are showing up. I also can’t find the link to Matt’s site. Thank you! x
