Despite what you’ve been told or taught summer is over and fall is here. With that I’m sharing my first official fall dessert Apple Butter Cake. The first of September means no more bikini diet, so forget meals made of leafy green bits, I’m loading up my plate with things that will enhance my winter padding – things like two or six servings of cake and lots of cookies.

Are you with me? Let me convince you with this Apple Butter Cake. The cake has all the fall seasoning you would expect: cinnamon, nutmeg, a little bit of cloves. Take those spices and mix it in a with a tender cake crumb enhanced with apple butter, sprinkled with shredded apples and then ripple all that with an apple butter cheesecake layer.

Caramel Apple Trifles

A Fall trifle that’s perfect for any Thanksgiving feast. Each layer comes together with minimal effort and fully assembled this trifle makes an impressive presentation. Caught in between the layers you will find a light and ethereal caramel mousse that’s been layered with a burnt caramel sauce to accompany the crisp apple crumble. Adding another dimension to the apple crumble are chopped raw apples for a tart and fruity bite. Together all these components create a symphonic collaboration of textures and flavors.

Pumpkin Praline Trifle

Fall is here so get ready for an onslaught of pumpkin recipes. First up is a simple trifle with layers of pumpkin and vanilla pudding with a praline crumble. Oh, yes, that’s a crumble made up of granola and kicked up with crushed pralines. Of course you can skip the praline crumble, but it provides a nice balance in flavor and gives the trifle a textural break with a bit of crunch.

I have to say, I love trifles, they are simple to make and can pack a lot of flavor and texture. Along with that it’s like an open canvas for mixing and matching desserts. The only thing about trifles is I have a real hard time with not being able to create perfectly even layers. But let’s not talk about my need for perfection.
