After a head-splitting week of the house being torn apart while the wood flooring was being replaced, yesterday I came home to an oven ripped out of the wall, a backed up sink and a toilet in my living room.
I’m not sure what’s worse, the misplaced toilet or the broke down oven—germ freak out or work related melt down.
Can you hear me screaming? No—well, I don’t want to hear me screaming or whining anymore either, so let’s do this: Cantaloupe Daiquiri. No umbrella, no crushed ice, just the traditional daiquiri ratio filled out with some pureed cantaloupe for a little summer time sip. And alright, more to the point, it was the only way I could convince Matt to join me for one. He’s not a fan of the traditional daiquiri or the big icy one, but he loves this version.
As for all the house troubles, I’m holding my breath and hoping for at least a functional oven by tomorrow. If not, well—there’s always begging, pleading and little bribery with this drink for an hour of oven time in the neighbor’s kitchen.

Cantaloupe Daiquiri
Ingredients
- 21/2 ounces light rum
- 11/2 ounce fresh lime juice
- 11/2 teaspoon simple syrup or superfine sugar
- 3 oz. cantaloupe, pureed
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and vigouroulsy shake until well blended. *Optional: Serve with a slice of frozen cantaloupe to chill the drink.
I should make this for my sister, she is also going through house renovations. Her bath room has caused more problems than first thought, ever… Flooding in the house, it was like noah’s ark…
I hope you get your oven soon. I can not wait for you to bake in it again!
Loving this driiiink! Yum!
Oh my, I’d need a drink after all that too. Love the cantaloupe-lime combo!
So simple, so delicious!
I hope your kitchen comes back together soon. If you lived closer, I’d let you borrow mine 🙂
Cheers away all the problem 🙂
Wow this looks delicious! I’ll be making one this weekend! Hope everything turns out well with your remodeling. We’ve all been there!
So pretty!
Hope you kitchen get back together soon!
This is such a fresh, simple, clean image, maybe the renovation is pushing your creative boundaries a little? 😉 It’s the weekend and what a great way to start with a cocktail!
This just might be the prettiest drink ever! Yum!
Gorgeous drink! Hope your weekend gets better! 🙂
if you bring daiquiris, you’re welcome to come round and use our oven anytime! What a great twist on an old classic. Thanks.
This tastes like a daiquiri. With mashed up cantaloupe in it. Sort of anticlimactic… I was hoping for more cantaloupe flavor. And, yes, I used a fresh, very flavorful and juicy cantaloupe. It was just overpowered by the lime. I’m going to try without next. Maybe some ice.
