I’m so happy to be partnering with Capital One. They are introducing their brand new Savor® credit card to help make dinners like my latest Girls Night Out with my sisters-in-laws that much more rewarding.
Of course we gather throughout the year, but mostly for big family holidays or special occasions, which usually means lots of cooking, husbands, kids and sometimes pets. But a few times a year, when it’s one of our birthdays we gather for just us—no husbands, no kids, no cooking. We eat, we laugh and gather for a moment that’s not restricted by time, crying kids or busy schedules.
This year, we gathered at a local restaurant for a birthday night out. The birthday girl gets to choose the restaurant, the only one caveat – it has to be a restaurant no one has been to. Of course it goes without saying, we are going to have fun, but the caveat is to ensure we create a new experience and lasting memories.
The restaurant did not disappoint. Dinner was, as you can see, wonderful. I was in charge of flowers, so I got there early to set the table along with two of my SILs, Tracie and Molly, who were in charge of making sure appetizers and cocktails were ready to go by the time everyone else arrived.
We started at 5:30pm and didn’t leave until after 10:00pm. There was so much catching up and food to get through that it just felt like there wasn’t enough time for either of those things. How is that even possible, right? Between the 6 of us, we still feel like we could go back and try a handful of other plates that we didn’t get to.
When we gather for these special nights everyone knows there are no duplicate entrees allowed. Admittedly, some of us are more adventurous eaters than others, but everyone has to try a bit of everything. So while the squid ink paella and lamb chops didn’t resonate as well with the majority as the rib eye and the risotto, the sea bass was the biggest hit with all of us, forking our way through that one plate before all the others.
And since none of us are rookies to this tradition, we all knew to wear eating pants, and that dessert is a must. I mean, what kind of gathering would it be without a sweet ending?
Can you see why I’m excited about Capital One launching their new Savor card? It’s a credit card that rewards customers 4% back for dining and entertainment purchases, 2% at grocery stores and 1% for all other purchases – and if you are like me, that means you will forgo shoes for restaurants, handbags for dinner parties, so naturally this card is a great option! The card is designed around what we want— that’s more time enjoying meals and creating moments like this birthday dinner with the girls.
Are you with me? I mean, who is going to say no to earning cash back for doing what they love with those they love—not me, I’m in!
