Holiday Bark Series: A big oops!

You know that saying, “Sh*t happens”. Well, it happened last night. I was so excited when the concept of this bark came to me. I was feeling good-real good. Like OMG, you-guys-are-going-to-love-this good. Well, all that gave way to a failed bark.

Even though failed recipes happen, I still hate them, especially when it’s because of a dumb mistake I made. I’ll expand more on what went wrong when I post the successful bark on Monday. I will be posting two barks next week to make up for this lost one: one on Monday and one on Thursday.

Until then pour yourself a glass of wine and take a sip – then be prepared to bite into some wine for next Monday’s bark.

Cookie Flop!

Can you even guess what I attempted here? Wonder what those little seeping pools of liquid can be? l”ll tell you this, those seeping pools are also responsible for the sunken holes you see.

The culprit: marshmallows. The cookie: Rocky Road. Yeah, not so much, right?

This might be my best fail, E-V-E-R. I completely brain faded. Marshmallows are more than 70% sugar, of course they will melt at high heat. As for the taste (based on what I could scrape up), um, I missed the mark on that one as well.

So off the heels of all that self congratulatory back patting in the Coffee Cake recipe, I was pretty much humbled by these not so great tasting and ugly babies.

Mixed Berry Pie-FLOP!

Mixed Berry Pies ~ Uh, that’s failed Mixed Berry Pies. OHHHHH, the horror!

Ah, bummer. But instead of completely chucking it, I thought it might be fun to share this epic fail and if nothing else the picture serves as an almost perfect visual description of my brain on a Friday night at the end of the work week-all messy, over baked, and undone.

So, what happened aside from late night baking gone bad? I over filled the wells and not having a bottom crust to seal the top to it-not a good idea. All that delish berry filling came seeping and overflowing up the sides like an angry pie.

And as many of you know, I’m a stubborn mule so stay tuned for a successful round two of Mini Mixed Berry Pies.
