Mixed Berry Pies ~ Uh, that’s failed Mixed Berry Pies. OHHHHH, the horror!
Ah, bummer. But instead of completely chucking it, I thought it might be fun to share this epic fail and if nothing else the picture serves as an almost perfect visual description of my brain on a Friday night at the end of the work week-all messy, over baked, and undone.
So, what happened aside from late night baking gone bad? I over filled the wells and not having a bottom crust to seal the top to it-not a good idea. All that delish berry filling came seeping and overflowing up the sides like an angry pie.
And as many of you know, I’m a stubborn mule so stay tuned for a successful round two of Mini Mixed Berry Pies.
Those do look like very angry pies. Tasty, but angry. Can’t wait for round two.

Oh my goodness, great post! I’m so glad I’m not alone in flopping. I love your line describing your brain, “all messy, overbaked, and undone.” Maybe licking the berries off the bottom of the oven might help. It works for me!
Aw well thanks for sharing your experience with us! I bet it’ll help someone avoid the same problem. By the way, loving the darker mood of the photo. Knowing you, you’ll fix the problem and make it even better than you imagined at first. Out of curiosity, how were you going to get these out of the wells if there was no bottom crust?
