Summer is upon us and with that, I’m always looking for easy no-bake desserts that are not only delicious, but for something that can pull double duty for easy entertaining—be it scaled up or down—from casual dinner parties to backyard BBQ’s and everything in between.
With that, I’ve paired up with Kahlua for their Kahlua Summer Shake-up campaign to inspire you to shake things up this season and do things a little differently.
Since Kahlúa is a classic rum and coffee liqueur, I created a KahlúaAffogato that can easily be dressed up or down based on one simple thing: the glass it’s served in. You can see from the picture, what a difference that one little thing makes.
The recipe is based on the classic KahlúaEspresso Martini cocktail. The ratio is changed ever so slightly for a stronger coffee taste for the affagato element. Of course feel free to keep to the original classic recipe (see below) or for a more interactive entertaining and set out all the ingredients along with the original recipe for your guests to mix and serve themselves. This way everyone can have it the way they want it—stick to the classic or customize it to their taste
For this summer, I’ll be doing just that—shaking it up—by setting up a mini affagato bar with a variety of ice cream, along the Kahlúa and Vodka, brewed espresso to let my guest “shake it up” their way.
The recipe is based on the classic Kahlúa Espresso Martini cocktail. For more fun entertaining and cocktailing inspiration, be sure to check out Kahlúa’s media pages below for more ideas. And when you do, don’t forget to share the ways you are shaking up summer with the hashtag #KahlúaSummer

The idea of an affogato is genius. I had my first one in a Mario Batali restaurant a few years ago. I am loving the extra kick in this one with Kahlua and vodka.
