I’ve just added a new member to my family. Her name is CC; she is an OnStar services, an aftermarket rear-view mirror with the OnStar communication. CC is short for car companion. Yep, next to my Blackberry that keeps me on schedule, CC will do all the vectoring I need to get me to where I need to go quickly and accurately with her turn-by-turn navigation. No more getting lost or pulling over to search where I’m headed on my mobile browser. The OnStar system is GPS enabled so, CC can lo-jack me and point me in the right direction.
I’m no tech head, but I’m definitely a gadget geek. I’m also a working a mom who when offered assistance will probably take it. So given the opportunity to review this—yep, I’m all over it like a kid on candy.
I know I have a problem with being anthropomorphic with my electronics, but you know what? Anything that makes my life easier and more efficient deserves that respect.
This isn’t like your regular navigation system where you punch in the address and it gives you some wacky directions with non-existing roads or shoots you 20 miles out to a destination that is less than 10 minutes away. This navigation system uses live advisors on the other end that will download the direction onto the OnStar FMV, and the BEST part. . . it reads the directions to you!
Gadgetry at its best. You know what it’s like to be lost while scanning the street and scanning written directions: crazy dangerous is what it is.
So yeah, it talks to you. It will also text for you and read your incoming text as well. Yep, through voice commands with a Bluetooth app. Texting while driving just became totally legal again.
The OnStar FMV also pulls double duty as your “heavy”. The emergency button provides you a priority connection to a trained OnStar emergency advisor. They use GPS technology to pinpoint your location and can request police, fire or medical support be sent right away.
Technology has come a long way with gadgets like this. Don’t deprive yourself. Seriously, life with ease is so much better than life with madness.

Plus, I cry at every one of their commercials!
