Blushing Kiss Martini

January 17, 2014 By Naomi Robinson | Bakers Royale 20 Comments

It’s Friday and we are a doing a Valentine’s Day cocktail. I know we are a few weeks away, but that’s okay, right? This just gives you time to play around and tweak this recipe to your liking. Go ahead, get your boozy testing on.

As for the Valentine’s cocktail billing of this Blushing Kiss Martini—it’s actually a drink I developed a while back and just re-named it for this holiday (have I mentioned I use to be in marketing?).

Many of you know I’m pregnant and with that, shooting can be a real pain sometimes, especially in tight spaces, and in particular with this set of photos. For this shot I had to shoot in our very narrow laundry room because of the time of day (yes, I move around throughout the house chasing the light). Anyhow, after my belly knocked over two drinks and much cursing, I texted for reinforcement—why holler downstairs when you can be lazy like that?

My reinforcement: Matt, who after a five-minute lesson killed it with these shots. I’m ridiculously happy and excited about this because as I get bigger, I’m gonna enlist him much more to help with the shooting—much more.

. . .back to the drink. Sorry, I’m everywhere today.

Now, if you know me, you know that I love gin, so I’m always looking for ways to mix it into drinks. If you don’t know me, you probably don’t care to know that. But I guarantee you will like this drink.

This is such a pretty cocktail. I simply love the addition of the small herbs; and such a different one too! I never knew thyme went well with Grapefruit

Beautiful photos and great color for the time of year! Chasing the light, LOVE it, I usually shoot in the same part of the house, I need to diversify by time of day. Sometimes the light in the afternoon sucks!

Such a beautiful cocktail–and an excellent excuse to break out a grapefruit or two. I would be the one pounding back a tumbler full of all the extra fresh juice before getting my martini on. 🙂

LOL! Did anyone else think “shooting can be a pain sometimes, especially in tight spaces” meant firing a weapon. I can see how that could be a pain when you’re pregnant. I guess a camera could be considered a weapon in some cases.
I will try this drink. I love grapefruit and alcohol.

Need an easy recipe that helps prevent food waste, Need an easy recipe that helps prevent food waste, and saves you time and money? What about a chance to win a $500 Walmart giftcard? I've got you covered then.

This Kale and Sausage Strata is the kind of dish that uses up all those bits and pieces in the refrigerator. This means dig through the crispier and let’s make the most of what’s in there. For what you see here, I threw in two handfuls of kale, 2 cups sausage, some mushrooms and cheese. All things that came together for one cohesive dish. To boost the flavor, I used Morton® Coarse Kosher Salt because its coarse flakes makes it easy to pinch and allows me full control when seasoning a dish.
