Have you ever thought you were coming out of something, only to be set straight with a punch to the stomach? Okay, so I’m being dramatic (what’s new). But really, being pregnant is really cramping my blogging style.
All this food aversion and scent sensitivity is keeping me from eating all the sweet deliciousness. But the upside—Matt has become the official kitchen taste tester. While he may not love sweets, he definitely knows what’s good and what’s not.
This got a huge thumbs-up. No surprise here since he loves banana bread and likes coconut, so the combination of the two was easily endorsed. As for me, I’m sure under any other circumstance, I would love it—but right now—just the smell of creamed butter and sugar makes my jaw clamp down.

Oh yeah, I remember all that. I can’t imagine blogging during that time, it must be so hard. I remember only wanting sour candy. But then I came out of it and it gets better. This cake looks amazing and hopefully you will be able to enjoy it again once you’re feeling better!

Isn’t it so bizarre how much we change when we are pregnant?! We feel like we will never be back to normal again but, we will! (although, i still hate tuna from my last pregnancy!)
This cake looks scrumptious!
I would happily eat your slice of cake while you get through this stage!

My last two pregnancies did this to me in the kitchen. It was torture. I still look back at the blog posts I did and my gag reflex kicks in. (I might have already told you that, sorry if repeating myself) Hoping you feel better soon and can start enjoying every moment with your little bean! 🙂
Mallory @ Because I Like Chocolate says
Oddly enough, my favorite part of this is how you sliced it into hearty wedges, rustic but elegant.
Debbie says
Did you use a 13×9 baking pan rather than the 8″ rounds as directed in the BH&G recipe? I prefer to bake it all in one dish. How might that change the baking time? Thanks! Hope the morning sickness/food aversions disappear VERY soon!
Shanna@ pineapple and coconut says
I think this is why during my pregnancies I ran a cupcake blog because my aversions were proteins. I couldn’t even stand to think of chicken or eggs or anything of that nature and I loved my simple carbs and loved citrus. I know this will pass for you soon enough, but pregnancy and blogging is quite the tough combo. Hang in there!! (Cake looks amazing!)

Coconut and banana!! I love it. Hoping that soon the small of butter and sugar puts you back in your happy place. In the meantime, we all appreciate you suffering just for us.
When I was pregnant with my daughter I could not get enough cheeseburgers! She is now a vegetarian. I guess I force fed her too much meat in the womb!
Megan {Country Cleaver} says
I’ve been on a one track mine with coffee cake for WEEKS!! Hang in there with the baby baking – I hope you find your carb baking groove again soon 🙂

Banana & Coconut sounds like a great combo, and I could use something tropical tasting to snap out of this dreary-weather-dark-at-4:30pm funk! … Hope you feel better soon! 🙂

I made this last week and loved it! I loved the change from the regular banana bread. It had a dense crumb (which I love) and streusel was amazing.
