Hot Chocolate Brownie Torte

How can you wrong with a hot chocolate brownie torte? You can’t, but you can make it better with a hit of cayenne for a little bit of spice.

This Hot Chocolate Brownie Torte is a recipe from Clabber Girl. Of course I couldn’t turn down making it—one can never have too many brownie recipes and variations. And even more so, once I saw that it was a one-bowl brownie recipe—fast and easy.

That is, unless you add the chocolate marbled topping like I did. If you do, bake your brownie as the recipe directs and let it cool completely. While it’s cooling, grab two microwave safe bowls, one for each chocolate to make the marbled topping, recipe below. For the Hot Chocolate Brownie Torte hit the jump here for the recipe.

Directions:

  1. Place a ½ cup of dark chocolate and 2 teaspoons of shortening in a bowl and a ½ cup of white chocolate and remaining 2 teaspoons of shortening another. Heat in ten second bursts, removing every ten seconds to stir. Repeat as needed until chocolate is melted.
  2. Pour melted dark chocolate on top of torte and using an offset spatula spread to an even finish. Drizzle white chocolate top, then using a toothpick drag the white chocolate all through the dark chocolate in different directions for a marbled finish.

This is serious brownie torte. That swirl on the top is so elegant, you could serve this to group of kids or at a fancy diner party. Either way, they will all love them; is the recipe posted later?

Actually the recipe for the icing is not included. If you follow all the ingredients, they all go into the Torte.

The complete post is not visible. Can only see “while it is cooling, grab microwave safe bowls, one for each chocolate”
Would love to see the full recipe for the marbled frosting.
    Thanks!

Naomi, this is stunning! I am forever in awe of your ability to bend and play with light. The way the reflection of the coffee (or is it wine…) is glowing on the surface – perfection!! Not to mention the torte looks delish!
